Bio-Metrics provides technical assistance to health surveys to support their biomarker testing and measurement at the household level or in a centralized laboratory. Technical assistance spans the development and implementation of a rigorous training program to train biomarker field technicians to complete data collection tools, perform point-of-care testing to collect, process, and manage biological samples for testing in a central laboratory. Bio-Metrics can train lab staff to conduct serological and molecular assays, process and read malaria smears, set up and program laboratory instruments, and capture and manage laboratory data.

Bio-Metrics is vastly experienced in the implementation of QA/QC programs in resource-limited laboratories, as well as the equipping of laboratory staff with the critical thinking skills needed to recognize anomalous data while troubleshooting and correcting issues in testing and data quality.

Bio-Metrics staff have extensive experience conducting lab assessments in resource-limited settings in support of biomarker testing in large health surveys. Bio-Metrics staff have experience assessing labs for their human, physical, and technical capacity to conduct testing for HIV, hepatitis, malaria, and micronutrients. The lab assessment exercise provides an opportunity to identify gaps in the lab’s capacity that need to be strengthened prior to selection, such as good laboratory practices (GLP), understanding of, and ability to perform enzyme immunoassays, molecular assays, optimization of laboratory assays, Quality Assurance/Quality Control programs, and protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
